WACO (PARAMOUNT)
· [series premiere] · 1/24/18 at 10:00 PM
· [regularly airs] · wednesdays from 10:00 PM-11:00 PM EST
(from Paramount's press release, January 2018) As the nation approaches the 25th anniversary of the federal siege on David Koresh's Branch Davidian compound, Paramount Network will present the six-part television event "Waco" premiering Wednesday, January 24 at 10 pm, ET/PT. Featuring an all-star cast including Michael Shannon, Taylor Kitsch, Andrea Riseborough, John Leguizamo, Melissa Benoist, Paul Sparks, Shea Whigham, Rory Culkin, Julia Garner and Camryn Manheim, Paramount Network's "Waco" chronicles this true story told from perspectives of those who were intimately involved. In February 1993, the eyes of the world converged on Mount Carmel, a small religious community located just outside Waco, TX. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) had just conducted a massive raid on David Koresh and his followers, known as the Branch Davidians. After what became the longest gun battle in U.S. law enforcement history, four ATF agents and six civilians were dead and dozens more were wounded. A 51-day standoff ensued, and the conflict ended after an FBI assault led to a fire that engulfed Mount Carmel, killing 76 men, women, and children. What precipitated the ATF raid, and what transpired over the ensuing standoff, remains one of the most misunderstood stories in American history. Based on two biographies, Waco: A Survivor's Story, by Branch Davidian David Thibodeau, one of the nine survivors of the final fire on April 19, 1993, and Stalling for Time: My Life as an FBI Hostage Negotiator, written by the FBI's Head of Crisis Negotiation Unit Gary Noesner, the six-part scripted television series "Waco" will forever change the way the dramatic siege will be viewed.

Each week, Outlaws veteran "Chuck" will serve as race master in a new city and on a new "no prep" track, where 32 of the biggest names in no prep racing - including STREET OUTLAWS favorites, as well as newcomers - will duke it out to become the ultimate "no prep winner" and receive a $40,000 first place purse. With more than $320,000 up for grabs across eight episodes, the stakes are high and the risks are even higher, as local crowds flock to each race to see which all-star STREET OUTLAWS will show up, and who will win it all. A sneak peak of STREET OUTLAWS: NO PREP KINGS airs Tuesday, February 27 at 10pm ET/PT and all-new episodes continue on Wednesday, March 7 at 9pm ET/PT. In the world of street racing, "no prep" racing is one of the "baddest" and dirtiest challenges in the game. The rules are simple, and it's every man for himself in each wild and dangerous race. STREET OUTLAWS: NO PREP KINGS summons all-star racers from all over the Outlaw family - including OKC's Ryan Martin, Chuck Seitsinger, Doc, Dominator and Reaper, along with New Orleans' Kye Kelley, Scott Taylor and Jerry Bird - and also features other no prep superstars, including Birdman, Swamp Thing and Megalodon. Each episode boasts a new matchup in a different U.S. city, where massive crowds gather to cheer on their favorite STREET OUTLAWS contender. The OKC crew will lay it all on the line and test their skills on these unfamiliar tracks - but can they protect their winning legacy?
LIFE SENTENCE (THE CW)
· [series premiere] · 3/7/18 at 9:00 PM
· [regularly airs] · wednesdays from 9:00 PM-10:00 PM EST
(from The CW's press release, May 2017) LIFE SENTENCE follows Stella (Lucy Hale), a girl who has spent the last eight years living like she was dying (because she was). Just like the "manic pixie dream girl" heroines in her favorite sappy cancer movies, Stella traveled the world, faced her darkest fears and found true love on a whirlwind trip to Paris. But when Stella finds out that her cancer has been cured, she is suddenly forced to face the long-term consequences of the "live in the moment" decisions she made, including marrying a total stranger. And if that's not enough, she also finds out that her "perfect family" isn't so perfect after all. Turns out, because she was dying, everyone in her life hid their problems from her. But, now that she's well, all bets are off. Stella is shocked to learn that her parents, Peter (Dylan Walsh) and Ida (Gillian Vigman), have fallen out of love, partly because Peter spent their retirement helping Stella make the most of her final days, and partly because Ida has fallen in love with her best friend (Stella's godmother), Poppy. Also, it turns out Stella may be responsible for the fact that her sister, Elizabeth (Brooke Lyons), gave up her own dreams to take care of Stella and start a family with her husband Diego (Carlos PenaVega), just to give her parents something positive to focus on. Then there's Stella's often overlooked brother, Aiden (Jayson Blair), who's pushing 30 and still lives above the garage, sells Adderall to soccer moms and uses Stella's cancer to guilt them into sleeping with him. And, of course, there's her husband Wes (Elliot Knight), a handsome Londoner who she agreed to spend the rest of her life with, thinking that would only be six to eight months, tops. Now that their forever just got a whole lot longer than they were expecting, Wes begins to worry that he can't continue to pretend to be her perfect husband for the rest of his life. With a real future suddenly in front of her, Stella's cinematic life snaps into reality, and instead of living like she's dying, she will have to learn to live like she's living, and help her family and friends do the same. This multi-generational, coming-of-age story proves that we all end up living somewhere between our dreams and reality... and maybe that's okay. LIFE SENTENCE stars Lucy Hale ("Pretty Little Liars"), Elliot Knight ("Once Upon A Time"), Dylan Walsh ("Nip/Tuck"), Gillian Vigman ("The Hangover"), Jayson Blair ("Whiplash"), Brooke Lyons ("The Affair") and Carlos PenaVega ("Big Time Rush"). From Doozer Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, with executive producers Erin Cardillo ("Fuller House," "Significant Mother") Richard Keith ("Fuller House," "Significant Mother"), Bill Lawrence ("Scrubs," "Cougar Town"), Jeff Ingold ("Ground Floor"), Oliver Goldstick ("Pretty Little Liars") and Lee Toland Krieger ("The Age of Adaline," "Riverdale").

Inspired by Civilisation, Kenneth Clark's acclaimed landmark 1969 series about Western art, this bold new series from Nutopia broadens the canvas to reveal the role art and the creative imagination have played across multiple cultures and civilizations, introducing a new generation to works of beauty, ingenuity and illumination created across continents. From the landscape scrolls of classical China and the sculpture of the Olmecs to African bronzes, Japanese prints and French Impressionist paintings, CIVILIZATIONS explores the wealth of treasures created through the entirety of the human experience. The principal contributors to the films are Simon Schama, art historian and Professor of History and Art History at Columbia University New York; Mary Beard, Professor of Classics at the University of Cambridge; and British-Nigerian historian and writer David Olusoga. Joining them will be international artists and experts including Jamal J. Elias, Religious Studies Professor at the University of Pennsylvania; Rebecca Gonzalez-Lauck, National Institute for Anthropology, Mexico; art critic and historian Jonathan Jones; Salima Ikram, Professor of Egyptology at the American University in Cairo; Jay Xu, Director of the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco; and Maya Jasanoff, Professor of History at Harvard University. In nine episodes, CIVILIZATIONS travels across the globe, visiting such cultural landmarks as the great mosques of Istanbul, the ancient cities of Mesoamerica, the Buddhist caves of Ajanta in India, the Aztecs' Templo Mayor in modern Mexico City and the funeral site of China's first emperor. CIVILIZATIONS explores a sweeping range of topics, including the earliest human cultural artifacts and the representation of the body in art, what happens when different civilizations encounter each other, and the nature of "renaissances" around the world. Underlying the series is an exploration of the premise that it is through the creative imagination that humanity expresses its most essential self and looks for the fundamental meaning of life. Artists such as Kehinde Wiley, Michal Rovner and Anselm Kiefer, Kara Walker, Richard Misrach, Antony Gormley, Bill Viola, Kira Perov, Cai Guo-Qiang and Damien Hirst add additional commentary and context to this creative exploration.

Starring world-renowned actor and Oscar(R)-winner Kevin Costner, who serves in the lead role, "Yellowstone" is written and directed by critically-acclaimed, Oscar(R)-nominated screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (Wind River, Hell or High Water and Sicario). Sheridan recently won Best Director Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival for the universally-lauded film, Wind River. In "Yellowstone," Costner stars as John Dutton, who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, under constant attack by those it borders - land developers, an Indian reservation, and America's first National Park. It is an intense study of a violent world far from media scrutiny - where land grabs make developers billions, and politicians are bought and sold by the world's largest oil and lumber corporations. Where drinking water poisoned by fracking wells and unsolved murders are not news: they are a consequence of living in the new frontier. It is the best and worst of America seen through the eyes of a family that represents both.
