HEIRESSES (ABC, New!) - Shay Mitchell ("Pretty Little Liars") is set to star in a potential drama at the Alphabet based on Sara Shepard's 2014 novel, which follows one of the most prestigious and wealthy families on the Upper East Side who have built their entire fortune on the business of diamonds. She'll also executive produce via her Long Lake Media banner alongside Alloy Entertainment's Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo for Warner Bros. Television. (Deadline.com)
PARTNER, THE (FOX, New!) - Jon Cowan ("Suits") is developing a small screen take on John Grisham's bestselling 1997 legal thriller novel: "a David vs. Goliath story about a betrayed lawyer. He was once a well-liked, well-paid young partner in a thriving Mississippi law firm. Then he stole $90 million from his own firm - and ran for his life. For four years, he evaded men who would stop at nothing to find him. Now he is coming home and an extraordinary trial is about to begin. Because Patrick Lanigan, the most reviled white-collar criminal of his time, knows something that no one else in the world knows. He knows the truth." Davis Entertainment's John Davis and John Fox will also executive produce alongside David Gernert for Sony Pictures Television. (Deadline.com)
SUPERGIRL (The CW) - Betty Buckley has been tapped to play Patricia Arias, "the adoptive mother of Supergirl's villain-in-the-making, Samantha (Odette Annable)." (TVInsider.com)

TWO CITIES (ABC, New!) - Eyal Podell and Jonathon Stewart (Cars 3) have sold a new drama billed as "a modern update of Dickens' novel, "A Tale of Two Cities," set against the backdrop of a society on the verge of revolution, where the tensions between the haves and have-nots has reached a breaking point. At the center of the story is Lucy Manette, who's rehabilitating a stricken father she's only just met while caught between two men she loves for different reasons." Mandeville Television and ABC Studios are co-producing. (Variety.com)
