Development Update: Monday, October 22
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

ARMISTEAD MAUPIN'S TALES OF THE CITY (Netflix) - Shoshanna Shapiro has signed onto the revival as Claire Duncan, "a driven documentarian who has a burgeoning relationship with Shawna (Ellen Page) that catches them both off guard." (Deadline.com)
CONSTANCE (TNT) - Hannah Rae is the latest to board the Elisabeth Shue-led drama pilot as Hannah Olivia Young: "She's Constance's (Shue) ultra-competitive, somewhat disaffected and precociously snarky daughter, who uses pageant wins as her golden ticket out of this sleepy beach town." (Deadline.com)
HUNT FOR THE TRUMP TAPES WITH TOM ARNOLD, THE (Viceland) - Tom Arnold's much-ballyhooed series will not return for a second season, as it "was only ever intended as an eight-episode series." (Deadline.com)
JAKE THE FAKE KEEPS IT REAL (Disney Channel, New!) - Adam Mansbach is developing a TV take based on his illustrated series, which "tells the story of Jake, who can barely play an instrument, not even a kazoo. And his art? It's better suited for Pictionary than Picasso. Which is a real problem because Jake just faked his way into the Music and Art Academy for the gifted and talented (and Jake is pretty sure he is neither). More jokester than composer, Jake will have to think of something quick before the last laugh is on him." Craig Robinson also serves as an executive producer. (Deadline.com)
KIDS ARE ALRIGHT, THE/MILLION LITTLE THINGS, A/ROOKIE, THE/SPLITTING UP TOGETHER (ABC) - The Alphabet has commissioned three additional scripts of each series. The former trio are in the midst of their freshman runs while "Splitting Up Together" is currently back for its second season. (Deadline.com)
POWER (Starz) - Michael J. Ferguson's 2-Bit has been promoted to regular on the veteran drama while Cynthia Addai-Robinson is joining the cast as Ramona Garrity, "a beltway insider with some secrets of her own." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED JACK BURDITT PROJECT (FOX, New!) - Jack Burditt has scored a put pilot commitment from the network for a single-camera comedy "set in a Nashville bar, where singers and songwriters go to chase their dreams, or maybe just to fall in love if only for a night." Country music star Dierks Bentley is attached to executive produce the half-hour alongside Burditt and Mary Hilliard Harrington for 20th Century Fox Television. (Variety.com)
UNTITLED LIZ BRIXIUS PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Liz Brixius has sold a new drama to the Peacock which "explores the personal and professional lives of four LAPD women officers who have been best friends since the police academy." Debra Martin Chase will executive produce the hour via her Universal Television-based Martin Chase Productions alongside Delong Lumber Company's Brixius. (Deadline.com)
WOLF CREEK (Pop) - The cable channel has quietly pulled its special three-night horror binge for the show's second season. (@PopTV)
WOLFE (ABC, New!) - Michael Peterson has set up a potential drama at the network based on an upcoming Kathy Reichs e-book about "veterinarian Dr. Charles Wolfe, who has a unique perspective on homicide, believing murder is a primal, animalistic act, and killers are animals. After getting elected coroner of Boulder, CO, Wolfe partners with his mirror opposite, FBI profiler Kristin Faulk, who is confident Wolfe is dead wrong and that it is nurture, not nature, that leads a person to murder." Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor also executive produce the hour, which will be co-produced by ABC Studios should it move forward. (Deadline.com)
