HISTORICAL MYTH BUSTER JUSTIN JAMPOL REVEALS TRUTHS ABOUT HISTORY THROUGH NEWLY UNEARTHED OBJECTS IN TRAVEL CHANNEL'S "LOST SECRETS"

- New Six-Part Series Premieres Sunday, November 10 at 11 P.M. ET/PT -

NEW YORK (October 10, 2019) - From family relics to private collections and museum displays, people often unknowingly possess unusual objects that hold hidden pasts and secret histories. Now in Travel Channel's new series "Lost Secrets," historian Justin Jampol journeys around the world to unlock the mysteries of the past held within these recently discovered items, revealing covert histories that have unexpectedly, and unknowingly, changed the world we live in. Using state-of-the-art scientific testing coupled with an insatiable curiosity, Jampol's globe-trotting investigations reveal how these mysterious objects can hold the real truths behind pivotal moments in our history that we thought we already knew. From unearthing a mysterious medal that may hold the secret to WWIII to discovering the space race was a cover to weaponize the cosmos, Jampol unveils why knowing the truth about our past makes it relevant to understanding our present. The six-part series "Lost Secrets" premieres on Sunday, November 10 at 11 P.M. ET/PT only on Travel Channel.

"Justin is an avid historian, and his passion for preserving the integrity of our history is the driving force behind "Lost Secrets," said Matthew Butler, general manager, Travel Channel. "Through newly unearthed objects, Justin connects our past with the present and brings our history to life by unlocking mysteries within these unusual items, one object at a time."

Justin Jampol's love of mysteries, legends, and adventure motivate him to untangle a web of information to reveal the truths of our past. Jampol famously makes a living out of distinguishing trash from treasure, and for more than 20 years he's been scouring the earth and collecting hidden relics to bring back to the Wende Museum, a top artifact museum in Culver City, CA (West Los Angeles) where he is Founder and Executive Director. Throughout his journeys, Jampol discovered that people across the world are holding on to valuable, historical items, many not realizing their worth or comprehending their extraordinary value to our history. Now in "Lost Secrets," Jampol is presented with rare and long-forgotten objects which set him on a path to unravel the mysterious tales locked within them.

In the premiere episode, Jampol gains access to a trove of recently uncovered documents from the archive of infamous Nazi, Heinrich Himmler. Himmler's private wartime archive contains many types of military files, but one thing stands out to Justin as unbelievable: astrological wheels for Churchill, Stalin and even Hitler himself. Jampol sets out to investigate the Nazi leadership's deep fanatical belief in the supernatural, and how there may have been a plot to harness these mythical forces to win WWII. Additional episodes for "Lost Secrets" investigate: if a Viking woman may have been the first to discover America; an obscure 19th century report that could prove that Meriwether Lewis' death wasn't actually a suicide; and question whether espionage by former slaves helped the Union win the Civil War.
