#BLACKAF/ENTERGALACTIC (Netflix) - Kenya Barris is reportedly "in serious conversations with ViacomCBS for a new venture:" a studio, in which he will be an equity partner. The new deal presumably won't affect his aforementioned series for the streaming service. (Deadline.com)
ACTIVATION (CBS, New!) - Katrina O'Gilvie has sold a new drama to the Eye about "a group of highly trained disaster relief experts comprising a wide array of specialties and skillsets risk their lives as the first boots on the ground, navigating all manner of emergency situations." HEELS (Starz) - Stephen Amell is recuperating after suffering a back injury while filming the Atlanta-based wrestling drama. "Following a medical evaluation, he is now resting and recovering at home in anticipation of his return to set," the pay channel said in a statement. "Production continues as Stephen recuperates." Amell had recently battled COVID-19. (TVLine.com)
HELLRAISER (HBO) - Clive Barker has signed on as an executive producer of the film franchise turned TV series. Barker, who wrote and directed the original 1987 film based on his horror novella, was not attached to the project when it was announced back in April. Director David Gordon Green is spearheading the TV incarnation alongside writers Mark Verheiden and Michael Dougherty. (Deadline.com)
SEVERANCE (Apple TV+) - John Turturro is bound for the workplace thriller that introduces Lumen Industries, a company that's looking to take work-life balance to a new level. He'll play Irving, "a dependable longtime employee at Lumen Industries." (Deadline.com)
TEMPEST (CBS, New!) - Jeff Buhler has likewise booked a potential drama at the network about "an ex-Army intelligence officer and her survivalist brother-in-law as they work together to solve the mysterious death of her husband. Their discovery that he was one of 127 test subjects in a top secret government mind control program lead them to try to track down and save the remaining test subjects before they commit the most heinous acts of terror." Anna Fricke will oversee the CBS Studios-based hour and executive produce alongside Thinking Hat's Craig Turk and Rideback's Dan Lin and Lindsey Liberatore. (Deadline.com)
TOKYO VICE (HBO Max) - Rachel Keller is bound for Michael Mann's upcoming drama, based on Jake Adelstein's non-fiction first-hand account of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police beat starring Ansel Elgort. She'll play Samantha, "an American expat living in late-'90s Tokyo who makes her living as an upscale club hostess in the alluring and wild district of Kabukicho, deftly navigating both salarymen, high-end customers and the Japanese Yakuza on a nightly basis." She replaces Odessa Young, who had to bow out due to scheduling conflicts created by the coronavirus pandemic. Filming on the series is expected to resume in late November. (Deadline.com)
TRIAGE (ABC) - Vondie Curtis-Hall and Gabriel Sloyer are the latest to be cast in the medical drama pilot as Jonathan Walters, "a brilliant surgeon and an intimidating authority figure at New York Trinity"; and Richie Alonzo, "an anesthesiologist at New York Trinity who will cast a spell on patients and doctors alike with his natural charm," respectively. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED DAVID BECKHAM PROJECT (Netflix, New!) - David Beckham and his family will reportedly participate in a new documentary series at the streaming service "that will spotlight their careers and current lives." Beckham's Studio 99 will co-produce the project, that "will delve into the Beckhams' archives to provide an intimate vantage point on personal photos and memories from David's career, as well as his relationship with wife Victoria and their four children." (Deadline.com)
WALKER (The CW) - Odette Annable will recur on the Jared Padalecki-led drama as Geri, "the bartender at a local bar called the Side Step.
