Sunday's Broadcast Ratings: ABC Closes 2017 on Top in Viewers, Demos

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (12/31/17):

ABC (10.467 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.0, #1) closed out 2017 on top with its mix of "America's Funniest Home Videos" (5.245 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8), "Dick Clark's Primetime New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018 - Part 1" (10.453 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 3.1, #3) and "Dick Clark's Primetime New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018 - Part 2" (15.719 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 5.0, #1).

FOX (7.975 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.3, #2) then was the silver draw with "NFL Overrun" (14.671 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.9, #2), "The OT" (10.082 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.9, #T4) and "FOX's New Year's Eve with Steve Harvey: Live from Times Square" (5.775 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.8, #7).

Next up was CBS (7.101 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3) and its lineup of "NFL Overrun" (11.861 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.9, #T4), "60 Minutes" (11.072 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.4, #6), "SWAT" (5.585 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8), "SEAL Team" (3.993 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #10) and "Bull" (3.645 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11).

And finally, repeats of "Dateline NBC" (4.273 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T13), "The Wall" (2.729 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T13) and another "The Wall" (2.875 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11) on NBC (3.537 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) rounded out the evening.


Here are the highlights of the 19 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (1/1/17):

NBC (18.915 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 5.9, #1) kicked off 2017 on top with the season finales of "Football Night in America #1" (6.089 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.8, #8), "Football Night in America #2" (9.600 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 2.9, #5), "Football Night in America #3" (16.155 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 4.9, #3) and "Sunday Night Football" (21.330 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 6.7, #1).

FOX (7.604 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.4, #2) then was a distant second place with its mix of "NFL Overrun" (18.166 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 5.2, #2), "The OT" (11.085 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 3.5, #4), the launch of "The Mick" (7.283 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 2.4, #6), a special "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (3.806 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 1.4, #10), a second "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (3.076 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 1.2, #11) and a repeat "Family Guy" (2.206 million viewers, #18; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T13).

Next up was CBS (7.756 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) and its lineup of "NFL Overrun" (10.218 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.1, #7), "60 Minutes" (11.004 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.7, #9), the debut of "Ransom" (7.051 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T13), a special "Pure Genius" (5.490 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T15) and a repeat "NCIS: Los Angeles" (4.741 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #18).

And finally, ABC (3.644 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) closed out the evening with a new "America's Funniest Home Videos" (5.783 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #12), the special "The Bachelor: Countdown to Nick" (3.047 million viewers, #17; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T15), the return of "To Tell the Truth" (3.694 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.7, #17) and the Sunday bow of "Conviction" (2.053 million viewers, #19; adults 18-49: 0.4, #19).
