Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: "Survivor: Ghost Island" Premiere Puts CBS on Top

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (2/28/18):

CBS (7.091 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #1) finally snapped NBC's win streak on Wednesday with the premiere of "Survivor: Ghost Island" (8.588 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1), a second "Survivor: Ghost Island" (7.700 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #2) and a new "SEAL Team" (4.986 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11).

FOX (4.578 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) then was the silver draw with new episodes from "The X-Files" (3.239 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11) and "9-1-1" (5.918 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #3).

Next up was NBC (5.766 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) and its trio "The Blacklist" (5.673 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #10), "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (5.558 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #7) and "Chicago PD" (6.068 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #6).

Meanwhile, ABC (4.330 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) served up new episodes from "The Goldbergs" (5.419 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T4), "Speechless" (4.065 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T8), "Modern Family" (4.921 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T4) and "American Housewife" (4.108 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T8) plus the return of "Designated Survivor" (3.733 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #13).

And finally, repeats of "Riverdale" (0.696 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) and "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (0.839 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) on The CW (0.767 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) rounded out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.6/4; "Late Show," 0.4/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/3 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.2/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (1.1/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.3/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (3/1/17):

NBC (9.133 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) got a big boost on Wednesday with its crossover event between "Chicago Fire" (9.065 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T3), "Chicago PD" (9.602 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2) and "Chicago Justice" (8.734 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T3).

CBS (5.127 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T2) then was the number two draw with its mix of "Hunted" (4.842 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6), "Criminal Minds" (6.461 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6) and a repeat "Bull" (4.078 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T9).

Next up was ABC (3.444 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T2) with originals from "The Goldbergs" (6.117 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T3) and "Modern Family" (6.365 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1) plus "When We Rise, Part 2" (2.045 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.348 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) offered up a repeat "Lethal Weapon" (3.330 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T9) and a new "Star" (3.367 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #8).

And finally, fresh installments of "Arrow" (1.603 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11) and "The 100" (1.025 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #13) on The CW (1.313 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #5) closed out the night.
